IWC, or International Watch Company, was founded in 1868 by American watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones, who was one of the first to combine American industrial production techniques with the precision of traditional Swiss craftsmanship. Based in Schaffhausen, IWC quickly set itself apart through its technical innovations and in-house calibers. The caliber 8541B is one of the last great mechanical movements developed by the brand before the quartz era, and is today rightly celebrated as one of IWC’s finest automatic calibers ever made.
